Peters Township high school has just finished its run of Romeo and Juliet, directed by Gina Duffy and Kelly Barefoot. Students had the opportunity to learn Shakespeare from Barefoot, a former Shakespearian actress, who taught the cast the difficult and stylized genre to perform. Not only was the acting hard to learn but, the roles of Benvolio (Bree Lipinski) and Mercutio (Ava Blasey) were tasked with incorporating fake blood into their death scenes, giving the makeup crew a new experience. It is extremely difficult to perform Shakespeare and especially in a high school setting, but all of PTHS did their part resulting in a job well done. Students learned challenging material working with two wonderful directors who have pushed our thespian troupe to the next level. Congratulations to thespian troupe 185 for a fantastic performance of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
